This type was struck in the United States for Cuba in 1952 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Cuban independence. The type is common today tho fairly pricey in gem condition. The issue was accompanied by a silver ten and twenty centavos (KM 23, KM 24). The reverse design refers to the site of the battle of San Juan hill, where a tree has grown up thru the debris of war.

Recorded mintage: 1,250,000.

Specification: 20 g, 0.900 fine silver, .289 troy oz AGW, 28 mm diameter, designed by Juan J. Sicre.
