Croatia is one of the parts of the former Yugoslavia. It obtained its independence in 1991-92 after fending off Serbian attacks. This ten lipa, featuring the tobacco plant, was introduced in 1993. The most recent date listed in the SCWC is 2017. Two reverses were used; this one, noting the plant as a "DUHAN" and KM 16, with the plant labeled as "NICOTIANA TABACUM", its Latin name. The reverses alternated. As of December 2022, US$1 = 6.92 kuna, making this coin worth about US$0.014. In January 2023, Croatia joined the euro, rendering this currency obsolete.
