Croatia is one of the parts of the former Yugoslavia. It obtained its independence in 1991-92 after fending off Serbian attacks. This fifty lipa, featuring the Degenia velebitica flower, was introduced in 1993. The most recent date listed in the SCWC is 2017. Two reverses were used; this one, noting the plant as a "VELEBITSKA DEGENIJA" and KM 19, with the plant labeled as "DEGENIA VELEBITICA", its Latin name. The reverses alternated. As of December 2022, US$1 = 6.92 kuna, making this coin worth about US$0.07. In January 2023, Croatia joined the euro, rendering this currency obsolete.
