Costa Rica 1922 5 centimos

This type was struck 1920-22 and 1936-41. It is common tho unspotted uncirculated specimens are scarce. The "GCR" is a holdover from when the coin was silver (prior to 1914) and an assayer was legally required. The blank space on the reverse formerly noted the fineness.

Recorded mintage: 500,000.
