This specimen was part of lot 27077 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), which sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lot of Ten 50 Centavos Coins. Dates are 1865-1890. Listed as KM112 & KM124. Average grade is VF. Sold as is, no return lot. The Cecil Webster Collection of Costa Rica." This type was struck for Costa Rica 1865-75 and is fairly scarce in nice condition. This is the most common date. Costa Rica officially switched from the peso to the colon in 1897, which currency was reformed again in 1917 and 1920.
