This specimen was lot 27059 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $293.75. The catalog description[2] noted, "Republic 1/4 Peso 1855-JB, F/VF, reverse flatly struck, obverse better. Actually, a very rare date and one of the finest available. The Cecil Webster Collection of Costa Rica." This is the rare date of a type known for 1850, 1853 and 1855. Eighth (KM 102) and sixteenth pesos (KM 101) also exist.
