This specimen was lot 20432 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Central American Republic gold 2 Escudos 1843-M CR, VF35 PCGS, a very nice example of this elusive date with attractive original toning and traces of luster in the legends." This type is listed for Guatemala for 1825-47 and from Costa Rica for 1828, 1835, 1843 and 1850. This is much the rarest date.
