This specimen was lot 20431 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $9,693.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Central American Republic gold 2 Escudos 1828-F CR, AU55 NGC, a most attractive piece with the perfect blend of aged toning and underlying luster. The strike is very sharp with all details bold on both sides. Rare grade for this type and date. The Cecil Webster Collection of Costa Rica." This type is listed for Guatemala for 1825-47 and from Costa Rica for 1828, 1835, 1843 and 1850.
