Goldberg sale 103, lot 2358
Cook Is G103-2358r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2358 in Goldberg sale 103 (Los Angeles, February 2018), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cook Islands. Palladium 50 Dollars, 2009. Elizabeth II. Reverse: Sailing Ship-Bounty. NGC graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives marketed in lands far from the issuing country. Note the amateurish rendering of the queen's portrait.

Recorded mintage: 2,500.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine palladium, 1.000 troy oz APW.

Catalog reference: Fr-B24; KM-1234.
