This specimen was lot 1616 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COOK ISLANDS: Elizabeth II, 1952, AV 50 dollars, 2006, Henry VIII, mintage of only 250 pieces, Brilliant Proof, R." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives marketed in lands far from the issuing country. The Cook Islands were discovered by Captain Cook over two centuries after Henry's death.
