In 1964, the Paris mint issued a set of denominations for the islands, one, two and five francs in aluminum and ten and twenty francs in aluminum-bronze. The coins are not rare but are less often seen than those of other French colonies such as St. Pierre et Miquelon or French Somaliland.

Recorded mintage: 600,000.

Specification: 2.21 g, aluminum, 27 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Louis Bazor.

Catalog reference: KM 5.
