This specimen was lot 40167 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, August 2026), where it sold for $1,830. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 2 Centavos, 1922. PCGS Genuine--Scratch, VF Details. This EXTREMELY RARE year stands as the undisputed KEY DATE of the issue, with Krause reporting merely 10 known pieces. Most likely struck at the Denver mint, it seems that production of this denomination was meant to cease at the end of 1921, for a pause that would last until 1933. As such, it stands as a trophy item for collectors of the modern Colombian series, and one which diligent collectors may wait decades before finding available for sale. This example appears to have circulated extensively, accruing some earthen deposits and scratches along the way. Condition, however, is hardly a factor when it comes to items of this immense scarcity." This type was struck 1918-21, 1933-38, 1941, 1946-47.
