This specimen was part of lot 44221 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (4) 1/4 Reales, 1860-1865. Popayan Mint. VF-25 & VF-35 (3) (PCGS). 4 pieces in lot. Mixed types. 1860 9 stars reverse PCGS VF-25, fully detailed and toned, 1862 3 stars reverse PCGS VF-35 Restrepo-221.6, fully detailed, 1862/1 3 stars reverse PCGS VF-35, Restrepo-221.5, fully detailed and untoned, and 1865/4 9 stars reverse PCGS VF-35, clear date, off center strike, untoned. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck 1863-67 at Bogotá (KM 143.1) and Popayan (KM 143.2). The denomination was debased to 0.666 fine in 1868.
