from Sedwick Treasure Auction 21, lot 1342

This specimen was lot 1342 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 21 (Winter Park, FL, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bogota, Colombia, 1/2 real, 1842, assayer RS. Beautifully rainbow-toned XF with traces of black encrustation, good rims." This half real is one of a series issued from Bogotá and Popayán 1838-48.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.26 g, 0.666 fine silver, .019 troy oz ASW, this specimen 1.42 grams.
