This specimen was lot 40094 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1811-JF Escudo. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Ferdinand VII (1808-1833). AU-58+ (PCGS). Frosty deep yellow gold with good luster and some hints of deeper toning. A little softness is seen at the base of the shield, but otherwise a well produced and attractive piece with a fine provenance. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Spink America's sale of the Norweb Collection, March 1997, lot 434." This type was struck in Bogotá 1808-20. Popayán does not seem to have minted one escudos in 1811. Assayer JJ is also known for this date and is more common.
