Sedwick sale 11, lot 1006

The specimen shown was lot 1006 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Bogotá, Colombia, bust 1 real, Charles III, 1784JJ, very rare. Richly old-toned and problem-free Fine, rather attractive for the grade, somewhat undervalued in Restrepo and KM. For reference, a cruder Fine sold in our auction #9 for $1,200 + buyer's fee. Jorge Ortiz Murias collection of Colombian colonial minors."

The SCWC lists seven dates for Nuevo Reino between 1772-84, all scarce.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.903 fine silver, .098 troy oz ASW, this specimen 3.2 grams.
