This specimen was lot 40023 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1777-SF Escudo. Popayán mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). MS-64 (PCGS). Frosty and boldly lustrous, with even yellow gold surfaces and superb eye appeal. Only a short hairline in the lower right obverse field keeps this from a full Gem designation. A really beautiful piece. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins."
