This specimen was lot 23637 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $14,100. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1758-J Nuevo Reino, MS62 PCGS, lightly toned and original with bold design features and full mint luster. A choice example of this early bust type with strong eye appeal. Rarely seen in the market in mint state." This type was struck 1756-60 and is out of the reach of the average collector.
