This specimen was lot 44075 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Cob 2 Escudos, 1751-S FS. Bogota Mint. Ferdinand VI. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, AU Details. Despite the details designation, which emanates from some scuffs and marks across the upper portion of the obverse, this example lacks much in the way of handling, and provides a rather clear four digit date and complete cross.From the S.P. Rutherford Collection. Ex: Sedwick 10 (10/2011) Lot # 85." This type was issued from Bogotá 1747-56. Specimens with legible dates are worth double those without. All have assayer initial "S". Many have been made into jewelry and sold as "pirate gold."
