Philip V (in the name of Charles II). NGC MS-62. Posthumously in the name of Charles II. Variety with castles and lions in correct position. This charmingly crude example offers lustrous surfaces with decently struck devices, though slightly doubled somewhat losing definition. The obverse features most of the shields with partials of the legend, while the reverse exhibits most of the cross with a bold clear four digit date. A handsome example of this RARE date that is sure the excite even the most advanced of collectors." This type was issued from Bogotá 1701-13. Specimens with legible dates are worth double those without. This type comes without a mintmark or assayer initials. Many have been made into jewelry and sold as "pirate gold."
