The specimen shown is a type struck in Chile 1942 only. It superseded a silver type last struck in 1905. This type is the first to feature the hero of independence, Bernardo O'Higgins (1778-1842).

Recorded mintage: 4,715,000.

Specification: 4 g, copper, 20.5 mm diameter.
