This type was struck 1879-94 in Santiago, Chile, in 0.500 fine silver. The first issue (KM 136.1, 1864-1866) was at 0.900 fine silver, while the second series (KM 136.2, 1867-80) was struck on planchets of 0.835 fineness. All three series show the same obverse and reverse design, shared with the half décimo, twenty centavos and silver peso. An overdate, 1887/6, is reported for the year.
Recorded mintage: 1,514,000.
