Chile 1869 5 pesos
This specimen was lot 2364 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,357 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHILE, Republik, seit 1818. 5 Pesos 1869, Santiago. Selten. Nur 5'913 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich. Winziger Randfehler. (republic of Chile, since 1818, five pesos of 1869, Santiago mint. Rare. Only 5,913 specimens struck, Extremely Fine, Tiny edge flaw.)"
This type was struck without change in Santiago, Chile, 1867-73 and succeeded a very similar type (KM 130) that was struck 1854-67. Mintages are generally smaller than those of the larger ten pesos. The succeeding type was considerably smaller.
