The first specimen was lot 22136 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $188. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. Peso, 1861-So. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Lightly toned. From the Blue Moon Collection." This type was struck 1860-64 and, like the silver peso of 1853-62, is much scarcer than the SCWC values indicate. A modified design (KM 140) was issued 1867 and 1873.

Recorded mintage: 176,000.

Specification: 1.52 g, 0.900 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM-133; Fr-48.
