This specimen was lot 2885 in Goldberg sale 75 (Los Angeles, September 2013), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "Chile. 8 Escudos, 1825-So I. Republic. Sun, mountains and volcanos. Reverse: Crossed flags. Lamination marks, flaws, scratches and cleaned. Very Fine." This type was struck 1818-34 in moderate quantities but increased demand has made this coin expensive, even in low grade.
