This specimen was lot 6159 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $517. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 4 Reales, 1788-DA. Charles III (1759-88). NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. VERY SCARCE, with most examples of this type being well worn or damaged. Even dark tone and quite presentable." This type was issued from Santiago 1775-89 and is rare.
Recorded mintage: 41,000 for 1788-89.
