Chile 1775-So DA 2 reales
The first specimen shown was lot 973 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "Santiago, Chile, bust 2 reales, Charles III, 1775DA. Deeply old-toned F/VF with parts of rims crude (as made), rare type-coin." The second specimen was lot 749 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[2] noted, "Santiago, Chile, bust 2 reales, Charles III, 1775DA. Richly rainbow-toned and problem-free AVF, slightly off-center strike, better early date." This type was issued from Santiago 1773-89 and this is a better date.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW, the first specimen 6.4 grams, the second specimen 6.61 grams.
