This specimen was lot 33856 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Colony - Victoria Proof 5 Cents 1890 PR65 Brown NGC. An alluring example with glossy brown surfaces. Very seldom encountered in gem Proof quality." This type is listed for 1870, 1890-92 and 1900 and is somewhat common. Restrikes in silver and gold exist.

Recorded mintage: 1,001,000 plus proofs.
