This specimen was lot 33853 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Colony - Victoria Proof 1/2 Cent 1890 PR66 Brown NGC. An exquisite beauty with virtually flawless surfaces and a needle sharp strike." This type is listed for 1870 and 1890-98 and is common. Restrikes in silver and gold exist.

Recorded mintage: 400,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2.36 g, copper, 18.3 mm diameter.
