This category contains examples of countermarked coinage used throughout the Middle East. Hosts include Turkish Ottoman coinage, Indian Princely State and British Indian coinage, and the ubiquitous Maria Teresia Thaler. Also included are examples of coinage countermarked for inflationary or other political purposes.
