Casale (1494-1518) scudo d'oro Fr-168
This specimen was lot 3310 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY, Casale-Monferrat, Guglielmo II. Paleologo Marchese, 1494-1518 Scudo doro o. J. Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand. (Italy, marquisate of Casale, William II Paleologos, 1494-1518, gold scudo, very rare, especially in this quality, extremely fine. Hairlined on edge.)"
Casale, originally part of the Marquisate of Montferrat, passed thru various hands before becoming an estate of the Dukes of Mantua. On the extinction of that duchy, Casale passed to Savoy in 1713. It is today part of Italy.
