This specimen was lot 6146 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 2 Dollars, 1999. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Yellow gold center in white gold ring. Nunavut drum dancer." Upon the success of the "loonie" in 1987, the regime introduced a bimetallic "toonie", or two dollar coin, in 1996. Off metal strikes in silver and gold were produced for sale to collectors.
Recorded mintage: 4,298 plus 39,873 in silver plus a base metal circulation issue.
