Canada 1965 5 cents
This specimen was lot 30275 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada, Elizabeth II "Large Beads" 5 Cents 1965 MS65 PCGS, Royal Canadian mint. An exceptionally rare variety of the type, highly sought after by collectors of the modern Canadian series. In gem condition the issue achieves a further level of conditional scarcity, with only seven examples seen by PCGS to-date, and a single specimen certified at MS66." This type, featuring the Machin bust of the queen, was struck 1965-78 in large quantities. The denomination was converted to copper-nickel in 1982 and nickel-plated steel in 1999.
