Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74298

This specimen was lot 74298 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Cents, 1963. Ottawa Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS MS-66+. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just one example, this enchanting end-roll Gem presents colorful toning on the obverse and immense brilliance on the reverse." This type, featuring the first bust of the queen, was issued in large quantities 1959-64.

Recorded mintage: 8,348,871.

Specification: 11.66 g, 0.800 fine silver, .300 troy oz ASW, 29.72 mm diameter, reeded edge.
