This specimen was lot 74297 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 50 Cents, 1962. Ottawa Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS MS-66. Struck in the first decade of Elizabeth's lengthy reign, this Gem offers alluring iridescence on the obverse and a blast white reverse." This type, featuring the first bust of the queen, was issued in large quantities 1953-58. The reverse was modified in 1959 and struck in this form until 1964.
