This specimen was lot 20444 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI 25 Cents 1948, MS67 PCGS, a spectacular coin with satiny frost to the raised details and pristine surfaces. Very scarce in this superior grade." This type was struck for George VI 1948-52 and superseded a type with "ET IND IMP" in the obverse legend (KM 35). Silver was removed from the quarter in 1968.
Recorded mintage: 2,564,424 (the scarcest date).
Specification: 5.83 g, 0.800 fine silver, .150 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
