This specimen was lot 31164 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada. George VI tombac Specimen 5 Cents 1942 SP66 PCGS, Royal Canadian mint. A bold example with highly reflective surfaces and matte devices, as well as a few areas of light toning. Die polish lines are evident on the obverse before King George's face but do not detract from coin's overall appeal. Common in circulated grades, seldom encountered as a specimen striking. Ex. Belzberg Collection. From the James Mossman Collection of Canadian Coinage." Canadian five cent pieces were struck in nickel 1922-42 then converted to "tombac" (a variety of brass) for 1942-43, then in chrome plated steel 1944-45, then back to nickel for 1946-51.

Recorded mintage: 3,396,234 + 6,847,544 of the round (KM 33).

Specification: brass (85% Cu-15% Zn), 21.2 mm diameter.
