This specimen was lot 23475 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $8,225. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 50 Cents 1901, MS63 PCGS Belzberg, frosty white mint luster with just a hint of toning in the legends, rare quality for this ever popular series. From The Nikita Collection." This type is notoriously difficult to find in nice condition despite being minted in respectable numbers 1870-1901. This date is scarce in all grades.
