Canada 1887 10 cents

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70191

This specimen was lot 70191 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $192. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. 10 Cents, 1887. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS EF-40 Gold Shield. An evenly worn and very presentable circulated example of the type with pervasive dark toning." This type was struck 1858 and 1870-1901 in substantial quantities and most dates are fairly plentiful up to Extremely Fine.

Recorded mintage: 350,000, a better date.

Specification: 2.32 g, 0.925 fine silver, .069 troy oz ASW, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
