Canada 1886 cent

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale, lot 22314

This specimen was lot 22314 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $70. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CANADA. Cent, 1886. PCGS MS-62 BN Secure Holder. Deep mahogany tone with nice minty orange luster highlighting the devices." This type was struck 1870-1901 in large quantities and is readily available in grades up to brown Uncirculated. This date is priced triple the commonest date (1900-H) but is otherwise unmemorable.

Recorded mintage: 1,500,000.

Specification: 5.67 g, bronze, 25.4 mm diameter, plain edge.
