This specimen was lot 70323 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 5 Cents, 1883-H. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. A pleasant, problem free coin, solid for the grade. Well struck with a lovely cartwheel effect and light attractive tone. Tough to find in mint state and a real treat for collectors sure to see spirited bidding. Ex: Bowers & Merena sale, September 1989, lot 4034." This type was struck 1858 and 1870-1901 in substantial quantities and most dates are fairly plentiful up to Extremely Fine.
Recorded mintage: 600,000, a better date.
Specification: 1.16 g, 0.925 fine silver, .034 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
