The first specimen was lot 3611 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CAMBODIA: Norodom Sihamoni, 2004-, AV 3000 riels, 2005, Great Wonders of the World-Taj Mahal of India, PCGS graded Proof 69 DCAM, R3 (Daniel), ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection." The second specimen was lot 3612 in the same sale, where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "CAMBODIA: Norodom Sihamoni, 2004-, AV 3000 riels, 2005, Great Wonders of the World-Taj Mahal of India, PCGS graded MS70, R3 (Daniel), ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection." Norodom Sihamoni (b. 1953) ascended the throne upon the abdication of his father, Norodom Sihanouk, in October 2004. Actual power was held by strongman Hun Sen, prime minister 1985-93 and 1998-2023. As of May 2025, US$1 = 4,006 riels.
