Steve Album sale 51, lot 3610

This specimen was lot 3610 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "CAMBODIA: Norodom Sihamoni, 2004-, AV 3000 riels, 2005, Voyages of Zheng He, PCGS graded Proof 69 DCAM, R3 (Daniel), ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection." Norodom Sihamoni (b. 1953) ascended the throne upon the abdication of his father, Norodom Sihanouk, in October 2004. Actual power was held by strongman Hun Sen, prime minister 1985-93 and 1998-2023. As of May 2025, US$1 = 4,006 riels.

Recorded mintage: 28,000.

Specification: 1.24 g, 0.999 fine gold, 13.92 mm diameter, 0.040 troy oz AGW.
