This specimen was lot 4762 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $437. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cambodia. 50000 Riels, 1974. Cambodian dancers. In original red holder. Brilliant Uncirculated." In 1974, the government of Cambodia was busy collapsing as the Khmer Rouge relentlessly advanced. Soon, Pol Pot would establish his communist paradise, causing the death of over two million people. It seems unlikely that any of these coins actually made it to Cambodia.

Recorded mintage: 3,250 plus 2,300 proofs.

Specification: 6.71 g, 0.900 fine gold, .194 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-8; KM-64.
