Steve Album Auction 52, lot 2498

This specimen was lot 2498 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BULGARIA: People's Republic, AR 10 leva, 1984, Winter Olympics-Downhill Skier, mintage of only 8,464 pieces, Choice Proof." This denomination was also used for other NCLT's, including KM 147 (Summer Olympics) and KM 149 (UN Women's Decade). The Communist regime, beset by corruption and an aging leadership, was swept away with the collapse of all the Eastern Bloc regimes in 1989-90.

Recorded mintage: 8,464.

Specification: 23.33 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter, lettered edge.
