Steve Album sale 54, lot 2411

This specimen was lot 2411 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "BULGARIA: People's Republic, AR 10 leva, 1982, 1982 World Cup in Spain, an incredible example, PCGS graded PF67 Deep Cameo." In 1982, Italy defeated West Germany to win the final in Madrid. Bulgaria issued two NCLT's to honor the games, the other being KM 143, featuring a sombrero over a soccer ball. The Communist regime, beset by corruption and an aging leadership, was swept away with the collapse of all the Eastern Bloc regimes in 1989-90.

Recorded mintage: 7,200 per the SCWC, 15,000 per Numista.

Specification: 18.88 g, 0.500 fine silver, 37.2 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by P. Georgiev.
