This specimen was lot 74413 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "BULGARIA. Lev, 1925. Poissy Mint. Boris III. PCGS MS-66. Fairly SCARCE in such a lofty state of preservation, this stunning Gem glistens with tremendous brilliance and deep toning." In 1925, Bulgaria, shorn of territory by the treaty of Versailles, was riven by struggles between the communists and the military establishment. The king, Boris III, chose the Axis side during World War Two and was deposed by the Communists in 1943 as the Soviet army approached.

Recorded mintage: 35,000,000 from Brussels plus 34,982,289 from Poissy.
