This specimen was lot 73528 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1761-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl I. PCGS AU-55. Dove gray surfaces given warmth by a layer of champagne throughout. Well-struck with light wear, though with softness in the Wild Man's face and at the two o'clock rim of the obverse. However, an attractive and desirable coin. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Ex: Kuenker Auction 92, Lot 1767." This type was struck 1735-80 and is common. A 24 mariengroschen with a leaping stallion reverse (KM 895) was struck 1736-80 and is slightly more expensive. Twenty-four mariengroschen started out as two-thirds of a thaler but had slipped to half a thaler by the end of Karl's reign. Mintmaster IBH (Johann Benjamin Hecht) appears 1739-62.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-362; KM-870; Welter-2735.
