The second specimen was lot 55518 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 1/2 Taler, 1724-EPH. Zellerfeld Mint. August Wilhelm. PCGS Genuine--Graffiti, EF Details. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1723-25 and is scarce. Despite the graffiti, the bidder obtained a bargain.
