This specimen was lot 72190 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. Taler, 1667-HS. Zellerfeld Mint. Rudolph August. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, AU Details. A charming example, this piece is quite attractive, and despite the noted tooling, a fully presentable specimen." This type was struck 1666-74 and is somewhat scarce. It is distinguished from the very similar Dav-6379 by having "DG" after the duke's name rather than before.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
